I'm committed to handcrafting recipes that are good for your skin and good for our planet. My mission is to promote inner healing. When we heal ourselves, we heal the world around us.

About the Maker

Hi, my name is Tamara Edwards and I was born in Sheffield, England to a Jamaican father and a Dominican (Commonwealth of Dominica) mother. When I was young, my family moved to Naples, Florida where I grew up. I moved to Hawaii for grad school and spent my 20s living there. While in Hawaii, I met my husband and we have an amazing son. We recently moved to Oregon to be closer to family.

Growing up in a Caribbean household, my family was always very health-conscious. Natural health and beauty remedies were commonplace in our home. As early as I can remember, my mom would massage me with coconut oil, olive oil, cocoa butter, and bay rum and whenever we would go to the beach we would exfoliate our skin with the sand. During our trips to Dominica we would spend time at the beach, bathe in the sulfur springs and load up on as many mangoes, papayas, sour sops, guavas, and other tropical fruits as we could. My mom always kept a garden and instilled in me a love of gardening passed down from her mother. We enjoyed making clay face masks together and my mother also made body lotions, which she taught me how to make. When I was a teenager, she got into soapmaking and it became something we bonded over. I fell in love with the art of soapmaking and have been creating handmade soaps for over 10 years now. I loved it so much that I began making more than I could use and gave soaps away as gifts. My friends told me how much they loved them and encouraged me to start a business. It wasn’t until after the traumatic birth of my son that I decided it was time to take a leap and in 2020 UNRAVEL|skincare was born. It was my chance to share my healing journey with others and do something I loved. Making soap has brought so much joy and liberation into my life and I hope these offerings bring the same intentions into your home.

With love,

Tamara
